Monte Carlo is one of the most iconic stages in motorsport history, and it is a place where MINI secured one of its greatest victories. In 1965, the legendary Mini Cooper S, driven by Timo Mäkinen with co-driver Paul Easter, claimed victory at the Monte Carlo Rally. Praised for its innovative technology, impressive agility, and ability to perform in demanding winter conditions, the car demonstrated how exceptional engineering and clever design could deliver outstanding results on the rally stage.
That moment in motorsport history now inspires the new MINI 1965 Victory Edition, a special model that celebrates MINI’s rally heritage while bringing the spirit of that historic win into the present day.
A limited edition with John Cooper Works performance.
In Canada, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition will be offered exclusively on the MINI John Cooper Works model. The vehicle is powered by a 2.0 litre TwinPower Turbo four cylinder engine that produces 228 horsepower and a maximum of 280 lb ft of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in just 6.1 seconds, delivering the dynamic performance expected from a John Cooper Works model.
The special edition will be limited to
45 units in Canada and will be offered in a single well-equipped specification, making it a distinctive addition to the MINI lineup.
Exterior design inspired by a historic victory.
The MINI 1965 Victory Edition combines classic design inspiration with modern styling. The exterior is finished in
Chili Red, a colour that reflects MINI’s motorsport character. A white trim stripe runs from the bonnet across the roof and toward the rear, highlighting the vehicle’s dynamic silhouette.
A white
“52” graphic appears on both sides of the vehicle as a reference to the race number carried by the winning Mini Cooper S at the 1965 Monte Carlo Rally. The roof and mirror caps are finished in white, creating a striking contrast with the Chili Red body.
Additional details include a subtle “
1965” marking on the C pillar, celebrating the historic year of victory. The vehicle rides on
18-inch JCW Lap Spoke two-tone alloy wheels, which enhance both the sporty appearance and driving performance. Floating centre wheel caps and colour-matched valve stem caps add further motorsport-inspired accents.
Racing-inspired interior.
Inside the cabin, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition continues to highlight the brand’s motorsport tradition. The door sills feature a distinctive
“1965” graphic set against a red and black background, immediately setting the tone for the cockpit.
The interior follows the traditional John Cooper Works colour palette with an anthracite and red design that combines sportiness with everyday comfort. Subtle edition-specific details appear throughout the cabin. The lower spoke of the sports steering wheel and the centre console storage compartment both feature
“1965” lettering, referencing the historic rally victory.
Each vehicle also includes a dedication on the door jamb referencing the original rally achievement, while the key cap proudly displays the race number of the victorious Mini Cooper S.
A modern tribute to MINI rally heritage.
The MINI 1965 Victory Edition celebrates one of the most memorable moments in MINI motorsport history. By combining authentic design references with the performance of the MINI John Cooper Works, the edition connects the brand’s rally success with the modern driving experience.
Limited to
45 vehicles in Canada and priced at
$55,200 CAD, the MINI 1965 Victory Edition is expected to arrive in late
